Who is this for?

This course is suitable for Childminders, Nursery and School Staff (dealing with Foundation Stage) and anybody who deals with children and wants a more in-depth course.  It is in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Local Authority Approved and meets the needs of Ofsted.

How long is the course?

This course is run over two days (12 hours) in a supportive and relaxed atmosphere designed to aid delegate confidence.  It includes both theory and practical sessions.

What does it cover?

The required EYFS syllabus includes:  


First Aid Priorities

Managing Incidents 

Basic Life Support - Adult, Child and Baby (inc using a defibrillator)

Choking 

Casualty Examination

Unconsciousness 

Anaphylaxis 

Fractures 

Control of Bleeding

Shock 

Asthma 

Eye and Ear Injuries 

Burns

First Aid Kits 

Childhood Illnesses including Meningitis and Febrile Convulsions

Regulations 

Recording and Reporting

Certification

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student; there is no final exam. Those students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for three years*


*Under the current guidelines it is strongly recommended that first aid trained staff attend a half-day update every twelve months.

Cost

The group cost for an in-house course  for up to 12 candidates is from £550 when run at your venue.  This includes certification and a manual for each student. There are no additional costs.  


The cost for an individual on a public course is from £110
