Who is this for?

This course is suitable for Nannies wishing to join the Voluntary part of the Ofsted Childcare Register  (OCR).   It is also suitable for Au Pairs, Babysitters, Parents and anybody who cares for children and  requires a basic course.

How long is the course?

This course is run over one day (6.5 hours) in a supportive and relaxed atmosphere designed to aid delegate confidence.  It includes both theory and practical sessions.

Planning for first aid emergencies

Dealing with emergencies

Resuscitation (inc using a defibrillator)

Shock

Anaphylaxis 

Bleeding 

Burns

Choking 

Fractures 

Head injuries 

Poisoning 

Eye and ear injuries 

Bites and stings 

Effects of heat and cold 

Febrile convulsions 

Meningitis

Epilepsy 

Asthma

Diabetes

Certification

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student; there is no final exam. Those students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for three years*


*Under the current guidelines it is strongly recommended that first aid trained staff attend a half-day update every twelve months.

Cost

The group cost for an in-house course  for up to 12 candidates is from £320 when run at your venue.  This includes certification and a manual for each student. There are no additional costs.  


The cost for an individual on a public course is from £90
